Christian texts were destroyed by order of the Roman emperor,
Constantine, and the bishops of the Church of Rome.

these “heretical” gospels, epistles, apocalypses and apocryphons
(hidden books) have been rediscovered during modern times.
Other non-canonical texts survived history in whole, or in
fragmentary form, and became part of the New Testament Apocrypha.
